Saugatuck, MI was voted best coastal small town in America by USA Today (2015) due in part to: the immaculate beaches, crystal clear waters, pristine state parks, quaint and sophisticated Downtown areas and superb schools; it's easy to see why the rest of country believes we have the best coastal town on offer and have become known as the 'art coast of America'.

We pride ourselves in the diversity of the people living in Saugatuck and Douglas and the safe, creative community this fosters. If fact, we have one of the lowest crime rates on record.

With proximity to other areas of great beauty, such as the Upper Peninsula and easy access to Chicago, Detroit and the regional airport at Grand Rapids, Saugatuck and Douglas continue to be favourite places to escape the city for either weekend retreats or permanent residence. 

We are one of only a few states benefiting from four true seasons. Beaches come alive May through Oct and we have a Fall that has to be seen to be believed; the colors are truly amazing. Even in the midst of winter there are plenty of activities to keep everyone busy, including the views of the atmospheric frozen lake and picturesque snow covered woodlands. A glorious Spring completes the full year seasonal cycle.
